About Patratu:
Patratu is an industrial township tucked between verdant hills and quietly offers visitors a mix of natural beauty and intriguing history. Established in 1962 through Russian collaboration, Patratu began with industrial ambitions; today its greatest attraction is the scenic valley and the peaceful way of life that surrounds it. The valley’s S-shaped curves and swooping cornices are carved from rocks that date back to the late Jurassic period, giving the landscape a rugged, timeless character that rewards anyone who ventures here.
Local life and culture add another layer to a visit. Patratu’s industrial roots mean there are pockets of working-town energy blending with the calm of rural life. Meeting residents, sampling local food, and exploring nearby markets give you a sense of everyday life here.

APNA Patratu (Access, Participation, Nurture, Action) is a volunteer-led digital initiative supporting sustainable development across communities. We harness existing open-source technologies, data, and grassroots collaboration to scale solutions for education, health, livelihoods, and environmental resilience. Volunteers—developers, researchers, organizers, and local changemakers—adapt and deploy proven tools, create capacity-building resources, and share open-access knowledge to amplify impact. By connecting stakeholders, documenting successful practices, and enabling evidence-based decision-making, APNA Patratu promotes inclusive growth while preserving local cultures and ecosystems. Our transparent, community-first approach ensures projects respond to real needs and build long-term self-reliance.
